Sports Biblio is devoted to books and book reviews, journalism and literature, history and culture about the world of sports.

Bypassing the daily media grind of clickbait, ginned-up controversy and easy outrage, Sports Biblio delves into the imagination of sports — what they really mean to those who are passionately drawn to them.

The debut post of this blog further explains my philosophy, and what inspired my approach.

My name is Wendy Parker, and I am a veteran sportswriter (bio here), previously at The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. My work has been focused on college and women’s sports, soccer and the Olympics.

I’m a longtime contributor to Basketball Times and also write for Blue Star Media, a site devoted to youth, college and international basketball.

In 2012 I published my first book, “Beyond Title IX: The Cultural Laments of Women’s Sports,” available at Amazon. I also was a contributor to the Inside Sports “College Basketball Encyclopedia” in the 1990s.

I round up Sports Biblio posts, plus the best links about sports books, history and culture in the Sports Biblio Digest, a weekly e-mail newsletter delivered on Sunday. You can subscribe here for free, and have a look at previous entries.

Sports Biblio is also on Twitter (@SportsBiblio) and Facebook.
